The KDS Chair exemplifies a pioneering approach to sustainable design, with a focus on circularity and minimal material usage. At its core is a unique fabric sling crafted using Camira Fabrics' advanced technical knitting process, which transforms 95% recycled polyester into a strong, flexible, and waste-free component. The sling is composed of 60% SEAQUAL® yarn—made from plastic debris recovered from oceans and beaches, as well as post-consumer plastic bottles—combined with 35% post-consumer recycled polyester. This results in an overall 95% recycled content, contributing to the fight against marine plastic pollution and reducing landfill waste.
This sustainable fabric, made from recycled materials and 100% recyclable, exemplifies circular design principles. The zero-waste technical knitting process uses only the necessary amount of material, eliminating excess fabric.
For the first time, Camira has incorporated a polyester monofilament into the fabric for added strength, resulting in a self-supporting, durable, and flexible material. Combined with the innovative padded inlay, this monofilament provides a plush, cushioned feel without the need for foam or extra materials, all while maintaining a sleek, minimalist design. The fabric flexes and conforms to the user’s body, delivering ergonomic support with minimal environmental impact.
